A few weeks ago, had a low power incident but did not throw any codes. Seems to run fine since then.

Yesterday, after I put the trailer on, the CEL popped up. Checked codes at a parts store and showed: P049D twice

P2262

P226C

I didn't think to ask if they were active now or even if he could tell. I believe the P049D is something to do with the EGR actuator, and the P2262 is no turbo boost (mechanical). That is all I know.

Could these be related? Could it be likely that they are caused by a non-warranty issue?

I am taking to a dealer next week and am wondering what to expect. I have 81,000 miles, have owned the truck for about 3 months and 5k miles.

I am thinking that the 2262 happened a couple of weeks ago when I barely made it through a stop light. CEL did not illuminate at that time.

thanks for any help

First I would fill out your signature in the profile section.

Now what does your warranty book state that came with the truck; for my vehicle it is 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. I also believe there is a longer time period for emission equipment. Now is the turbo consider an emission component will that is up to the dealer and Ram to determine in most cases they will rule no it is not an emission component for warranty purposes.

I believe you are having soot issues with the Turbo and the EGR actuator soot build up. The turbo needs to be clean if it can be cleaned or replaced do to the amount of soot that is in the turbo. One way to insure that the turbo works correctly is too use the exhaust brake 100% of the time. Every time you start the truck you turn on the exhaust brake. This will keep the sliding ring that changes the air flow into and out of the exhaust port of the turbo clean and free to move. If you do not this it will soot up and prevent movement of the slider and thus cause the P2262 code.

The EGR actuator needs to be cleaned also and the whole system may need cleaning. I believe this is a maintenance item at 76,500 miles where the CCV filter needs to be replaced and the EGR cooler/valve needs to be cleaned. At least on my 08 Ram this is the time frame.

Good luck.

thanks Jim W.
took it to dealer yesterday and donated $110 for them to tell me that the EGR was bad. I asked them if it could be a soot or cleaning issue and the writer would only say that the EGR was bad. The aftermarket warranty as well as the emissions warranty do not warrant the EGR. I brought er home and ordered the EGR cleaning kit and hopefully will have it by the weekend. I purchased the truck with 80K and I don't believe the service was completed. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you for the advice.
