My 2006 Ram 3500 has a check engine code P2609.

I searched the forum, read the threads I could find.

The truck's headlights are dimming (like on my '96), telling me the grid heater is working.

The relays must be working because the lights are dimming.

I'm looking for a list of other things to check.

Thank you,

KRS

Are you sure it is not 2509?? 99 times out of 100 it will have at least 1 failed batt
I am doing one right now

It is 2609. I moved out of state and am in an apartment. No driveway or anything. Let me check batts. Starter, headlights, all working.

Brethren-

KRstone I hope you dont mind but wanted to jump in on this one. I too have a 2006 that is giving me the same code (2609). The batteries are a year old and have clean terminals..... and the cables are tight. I also had the heater grid relay replaced last year ... ... all connections are good. In fact the heater grid is working fine with no issues. Checked all other connections related and all appear to be tight and clean... ... ... so I have no clue what the deal is?? I just got the Smarty Sr. so plan to clear code and see if it comes back. But still confused on why I got the code??

Could it be "the CURSE of the 06" ???

Bob4x4 ... ... ..... you do good work!!! ;-) I just found the TSB and it appears to be the fix / answer to our issue. Guess I will try clearing the code and see if that will work for a while... ... if not then will run it by the dealer and have them update.

Thanks again for the information and Happy Holidays!!!
