Well, I think I have found a company in town that will bench, tune, and time my pump for $150 or so, all I have to do is take it off. :-laf

According to most of the guys I have talked to , a pump build is much more reliable and effective than are some other upgrades, namely injectors.

On the other hand, I am wondering if this will help my problem, the truck seems to lope somewhat, it almost sounds like a miss. when I turn on the A/C, it gets a whole bunch worse, and it sometimes dies when I have the A/C on at idle. Also, when it is cold in the morning and I back up, accelerate and then shift to drive, it will die. Does this sound like a timing issue?

Thanks in advance

Luke

I agree with Joe. I had the same symptoms as you. I had the valves adjusted and the idle raised. Smoothed everything right out.

I had a loping problem a few years ago and had my pump bench tuned to see if that fixed it. No cigar.

If you can locate which cylinder may be the one causing the lope, you might try swapping injectors with another cylinder to see if it moves. You could also try swapping delivery valves with another cylinder. Also, check manifold bolts - I found a few that were loose and causing a leak. I did all these with no effect, however. One way I attempted to find the offending cylinder was to run hard up a long hill to get the temps up, then jumped out, popped the hood (engine still idleing), and checked each exhaust port with and infrared remote temperature gun. That seemed to indicate it was cylinder 3, it was a little cooler than the others. But I could never clear up the lope.

Eventually, it smoothed itself out.

ok, just an idea but when I did the 4K GSK on another truck this weekend and I had to undo the fuel line on the side of the pump, its a banjo fitting... . I was wondering if one could widen the hole for the feul supply on the fitting and get more fuel???

ALso if anyone knows of any other home doable tricks one can do on the p7100 to modify it before i take it in to get benched... I have heard of aneroid adj, lever adj, etc... anyone know for sure? Like what does Piers do to make a race pump?

Did you bump the idle yet. Mine did the same thing after installing the 89% convertor and upgrade trans. I only bumped it a litte, problem is gone.

Joe

Haven't bumped it yet, but i found that I had left a vacuum hose unhooked on the CC when I did the KDP, so really the problems gone, but I think I might need to bump it up a tad.

Thanks Luke

If a vacuum hose is on or off will not affect how the engine runs. Vacuum is not involved with the engine like it is for a gasser.
