Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) p7100 pump conversion

When my future trucks vp44 takes a crap, what is the option of the p7100 conversion? what is the good and bad? how much does it cost?

I saw figures posted in here as high as $8000. to do the job. It's not an easy changeover at all, and you probably ought to consider it out of the question unless you do it yourself and can get cheap parts.
