Last night I got the project truck engine fired. The instructions in the 4K GSK were not quite clear and I ended up leaving the shims under the giant springs. (that part is fixed) The engine cleared the air in the system and ran up to a high RPM with no change from the throttle. Total runtime about 1 minute until I got it shut down. It seemed slow to shut down.
Now it seems that the pump is not letting fuel out to the injector lines.
I pulled the AFC housing and the plate. The kill lever inside the pump only hits the round tab on the side of the ~1/2x3/4" block/spring assembly near the end of its travel and pushes it ~0. 050" before it stops. The lever no longer travels far enough to hit the stop screw on the outside of the pump. It is ~0. 100 short of hitting. There is evidence it did in the past.
It would appear that something is jammed and it is not letting the fuel flow.
Anyone got any suggestions on what happened and how to fix it short of taking it to a pump shop?
