You will need just a few wrenches and A socket.
14mm combo
15mm combo
18mm open (prefer line wrench)
32mm shallow 1/2 socket
first remove fuel lines from filter and cap if necessary to prevent to much leakage.
then remove oil feed line on side of pump (between block and pump)
then remove inj. lines on top of pump
remove aneriod line (afc for cummins book people) from head to back of pump
remove overflow valve line (between pump and head, can be a pain at times, just be patient and keep working slowly)
take oil fill off front of timing cover (should unscrew by hand sometimes a little massaging is necessary (tapping with light hammer))
take 32mm socket and remove shaft nut (this will require a good solid hit on end of ratchet or strong arm in order to loosen without turning entire engine over.
DO NOT TAKE CLEAR OFF WITH SOCKET JUST LOOSEN THE NUT.
take nut off by hand being EXTREMLY careful not to drop nut or washer behind it down into the timing cover (i prefer using an extending magnet on end of shaft to allow nut and washer to slide over and out without droping it. )
now unless I am forgetting something small to take off all you should have left are the three nuts that hold the pump to front timing plate.
This should basically cover everything, this can be a very easy procedure provided you go extremely slow, take your time, and be patient, I can't say than any other way. be sure to pay attention to where everything came from and where it should go back. These instructions are strictly from my memory so if I skipped something someone else should be able to answer that, but for the most part it truely is a simple thing to do.
