Hey big

Thought's for the Season

Bought a new P95. Doing basic familiarization by assembly / disassembly and slipped while putting barrel on. As a result the ejector popped up and left me with a slide that could not be removed nor could it be put on. It was stuck between.

The manual does not cover this.

The AZ help line said I could try to pull the ejector forward working up through the magazine slot and I might also have to thump the slide to get it to come off after doing so. If that didn't work I should send it in for service.

Not bad for a gun that has not had a single round through it yet, eh?

Spent a few minutes studying the exploded parts diagram and decided that I'd take a whack at it. Small, long screwdriver and a pair of hemostats did the trick and the slide came right off. Reassembled and just put 5 rounds through it.

Nice gun... . not sure about Ruger yet... seems dumb that something so simple can render it inop and require tools to "fix".

Hmmm, well, think about it... . How many are supplied to goverment contracts? How many Ruger's are endorsed by retired military personnel? How many state troopers do you see carrying Ruger's? Policemen?

Not to knock the company, I think they build a mighty fine line of revolvers..... For something you don't shoot a lot, I think Ruger's Autoloaders are a decent firearm, like for home security or emergency use... . No offense, of course. I absolutely LOVE their revolvers, and have a GP100 that I am pretty good with.....

Well, it now has over 1500 rounds through it and I've only had 2 issues. Twice the spent casing failed to eject. It was still in the barrel and as the slide stripped the next round it had no where to go. Quickly resolved in both instances by locking slide back, pressing down on rounds in magazine and releasing slide. Then I just manually racked then next round which ejected the spend casing properly.
I don't think this is a gun issue but an ammo issue.

So, I really like the gun... . (although at the range... it's the black powder pistol that stops everyone else from shooting LOL )

I'm not too crazy about Rugers support policy of just "send it in" ... but she did then take time to explain what the techs there would do.

Cool. Glad to hear it's solved. I like Rugers. I realize they are not the most refined and highest quality pistols. My buddy who has Kimbers and such, gives me crap about my "brick" Rugers. That's ok. They have never failed to fire when the trigger was pulled. My P-85 has never had a single malfunction. Never.

I really like my p95. Its a little big for concealed carrier so I bought a ruger . 380 and nobody knows when Im carrying. Within the kill range its very accurate. Moe

I have a P-95 and a P-85. Love both, they are a little bulky for concealed carry. No problems with mine, I can dot an eye with mine. bg
