Pac Brake problems

I have had a self installed PRXB Pac Brake, with a shift colum rocker switch, on my 2006 3500 for over a year and it worked perfectly until about three weeks ago when it commenced to function only intermitantly. On any trip into town (55 mile round trip), I never know whether it will work most of the time , part of the time, or none of the time. Last week it did not work at all for several trips in a row, then it worked great for a full trip, then yesterday it did not work at all.
I would sure appreciate any help on trouble shooting this intermitant problems.

Try cleaning it and lubricating it at the cylinder and see of that solves the problem first.



If it still is having the intermittent issue and your air tank is under the truck more exposed to weather conditions (freezing water and such) you may want to move the pressure switch up to (near) the compressor instead of at the tank. Cold, wet, freezing, etc affects the pressure switch.



You could probably find a diagnosis/troubleshooting information sheet on the PacBrake website in the technical publications.

My Pacbrake is sticking on if I use it right now



The temps are in the teens and 20's with a brisk wind.



I must have moisture in the lines somewhere.



Maybe moving that switch into the engine bay would be a good idea. It would allow the engine heat to keep it warmed up.



for now I am just not using mine after it stuck on the other night.

The first thing we need to do is check and see if the ecm is putting out it's ground signal each time everytime. If it is check the pressure switch of the brake to see if it is making and breaking contact each time, (it could be freezing so relocating it will help). Also remove the clevis pin that attaches the air cylinder to the butterfly arm. The butterfly arm should turn freely with no more then two fingers force. The actiavate the comprresor and check and see if your air cylinder is leaking air. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Is there a document on the throtle switch you could send or email me? Would that avoid any ecm problems.

My PacBrake was working intermitently(sp) and I discovered that the accelerator pedal switch had slipped a little so it was not closing when my foot came off the pedal.
