only if you want to be able to air up tires. but then you might have to look into a higher duty cycle compressor. I am ordering the c44047 5 inch remote mounted one for mine and going to install an air tank from a Peterbilt so I can air up if need be.

One of the other uses of the pacbrake is the fast warm up... ... turn it on during engine idle and it aid in fast warm up.....

We don't suggest a larger tank... I've used a 4 or 5 gal tank like what is used on a larger truck... ... the problem is that your using the compressor at a longer cycle time than it is designed..... and if you over heat it can burn it out... . if you can't hold your fingers on the head its working too hard... .

If you do use that larger tank... precharge it first... and see if the pacbrake compressor will keep it charged... . we have other compressors with more volumn... they are a heck of a lot more money.....

We have found with our trucks... that the tank that comes with it works for air horns, and air bags, as well as bicycle tires, and atv tires... . it just isn't designed to handle larger tires... ... . and whats said above is right on target... . up grade the compressor and the tank and you can do those tires.....

We do offer an in the bed, or under the bed mount electric compressor that when its on will supply 5 CFM at 125 psi... . this is an air cooled compressor powered by a very heavy duty 14 volt electric DC motor..... its a constant duty compressor and will run 100% of the time if you wish... and will run a 1/2" air wrench and supply a tank.....

We have one on our service bed truck and have sold a lot of them for that purpose. . if you have the need for a lot of air... from a small package and don't care for a gas driven compressor this might be the ticket... ...

Hope this helps...

I second what Chris says, I use mine daily and don't notice any sluggish braking at all. This time of year I turn it on right after starting the truck up. I just leave it on then as it seems to build heat faster, the EGT's don't go to < 300* as happens without the brake on.

, the EGT's don't go to < 300* as happens without the brake on.

Could some one explain this?? Wouldn't the EGT's be higher with brake on?

it would be higher if the injectors were still pumping fuel to it. without fuel being added (like on acceleration) the EGT's will drop.

The pacbrake backs up some of the heat while the engine idles, thus its faster to warm up... Understand that when your driving down the road going down hill and the brake is on... it will back up some heat... but we've not noticed that on a gauge... there is so much air moving through the engine compartment at 50 mph that it just takes it away...

The air compress we offer is a volt air I think its called... . its as large as a compressor as what you might see on a class 7 or 8 truck... . will supply 5 or so CFM at 120 psi, cuts on at 120 or below and cuts out at 150... . uses cables about the size of battery cables on a small car... . and can draw up to 90 amps just before it shuts down... it will run a 1/2" air wrench and is about 10 in deep, by 18 wide and 18 tall. . fits nice in front of the wheel well and can be bolted to the floor... . sells for 895 I think and we've sold many of these to farmers for field use. . a switch on the dash turns it on or off and it has a cycle pressure switch... .

We don't use this on our trucks. . our trucks have the stock pacbrake, tank, air horns, and air bags... . with controls. . I think that answers all the questions...

Got it Thanks for the explaintion, I am a bit mechanical But I miss read the first post didn't notice the "< 300*" Lower than 300 * I was reading that as an additional 300 degrees,
