Instructions from Pacbrake are poor when it comes to telling you where to mount the compressor. For those of you that have the Pacbrake PRBX, where did you mount yours? I read a post on the RV forum about making sure you mount it where it won't vibrate and stay cool.

Mine for my '06 came with all the hardware and pretty concise instructions for mounting it on top of the intake manifold. My buddy mounted his on the frame of his '05 3500. He fabricated a box to enclose it and keep dirt away. Since the airlines are pretty flexible you can mount it most anywhere that's convenient to you. Just keep the intake filter where it will stay clean.

I just went through this same thing when I had to replace the original compressor on my '01 last month. The old mounting location for the 2nd gens was on the crossbrace underneath the truck bed. The new compressor that came from PacBrake was larger than the old one, and could not fit in that same spot.

The new compressor came attached to a mounting plate which slides in-between the battery tray and the battery on the passenger's side. So, it's essentially held in place by the weight of the battery. One of the battery tie-down bolts passes through a pre-drilled hole in the mounting plate. I thought it was a flaky arrangement, but it seems to be working just fine.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Troubleshooter. I'm going to try and finish installing this today.

This is where it went on my 06

Note I notched the radiator shroud to give it a little more clearance.
