I installed the Pacbrake PRXB kit on my truck yesterday. The installation went flawlessly. When I went to operate it for the first time the brake would'nt operate. When I hooked the black and white wires to the ecm I pulled the red dust plugs out and pushed the wires in. The black wire locked in very easily, but the white wire on pin 39 didn't feel the same it had some resistance, but wasn't "Locked in". I tried multiple times to get it to lock. I even disconnected the batteries and unplugged the ecm and couldn't get it to push down in the connector far enough. The wire became so limber that it just bunched up when I tried to push it. It looks like it is just going half the distance into the plug that it needs to. Needless to say I tried it so much that the wire fatigued and broke off of the ecm pin. Now I guess I'll see if pacbrake will send me another ecm pigtail. It looks like the white wire is a smaller gauge than the black. If it was a larger gauge, I think it would be stiff enough to push it in with no problem. Anybody have any suggestions on how to push this pin in to lock it in place? Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem and i had to stick a pick through the hole to spread the rubber a little. I don't know if its a good idea but this is what i did. Can you solder the white wire back together instead of waiting for a new one?

I try and suggest to customers to pull the plug from the ECM... . push the pin into the plug and make sure it clicks into place. .

I feel that the pacbrake information sheet is short on this point... they suggest you just push it into the cavity... to me this is faster but can result in a come back... .

If you pull the plug, and snap the pin into the cavity all is well...

BTW - we carry replacement pins on a pig tail... we've by mistake tried to put them in the wrong hole or damaged them. . once in, they do not remove well..... so we have spares... .

The wire broke off of the ecm pin where it is crimped so I'd rather not try to solder it back onto the pin. Jim, I unhooked the ecm plug and still couldn't get the pin to go in deep enough to lock once the pin itself was inside the plug the white wire would star bunching up. It's like the wire isn't stiff enough to push it far enough in to lock. Pacbrake is sending me a new pigtail. I think I'll put some dielectric grease in the plug to help it slide. Any thoughts? Thanks

Maybe a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers to help push it in so you are not pushing on the wire.

I don't think I would use grease.

I CAREFULLY used an opened up paperclip to push mine in. It takes patience and sometimes some foul language!! Remove the gang plug from the ECM first.
