I was wondering what one is better.

I want to add an exhaust brake to my ETC 2001. 5 and want one that integrates with the factory ECU. I assume the pacbrake and BD are the only ones that do this.

I think I also may want a manual over-ride switch. The switch would be used for warm up in before starting out and when I want the thing to engage now or not to engage. I can see coasting I would not want the brake coming on and if I want to slow down a little I may want the thing to engage immediately and then coast.

Are there any good looking switches that do not look cheap and cheesy inside the cab?

Cummins/Jacobs incorporates the onboard computer. Mopar4less has the Jacobs for 607 and the Pacbrake for 657. They are pushing the new/improved "coated" Pacbrake. Call them though cause they have serious computer problems and won't answer your inquiry.

BD has the switch that goes on the shifter. It can be used with any of the brakes.

What does the coating do? I assume computer problems means the ones they use to read email, not the comuter that runs the exhaust brake...

The new coating on the pacbrak is Nitrite. Basically all it does is prevent the brake from sticking... like the older one had a reputation for doing after long periods of time without usage.

I actually have one of these brakes on my truck... Thanks to Bill Kondolay... This brake is awesome and had plenty of power retarding power for our trucks. I will never trade my pac brake for any other type of brake.

Smokin Joe, You are correct, the computer problems are with the Mopar4less email/inquiry system. Just give them a call. Also, supposedly the nitrite coating not only prevents sticking but is a rust inhibitor as well. Duramax uses it on certain internal parts such as the crank and cam (not that that is an endorsement). When I called Mopar4less Monday (March 26) they gave me the prices above and were really pushing the Pacbrake. Sounds like they went up from when Michael Brolin purchased his. Dang it.

remember these are exaust brakes, not 'jake' brakes. I have the jacobs e- brake with the ECM switch not the micro switch it works OK but for the slight delay. Where can i get the shifter switch(BD) and you said it will work with any e-brake? thanx! p. s. my jacobs sounds killer with the 4" jardine!
