If you truck has the stock elbow than a direct mount pacbrake will fit with no problems... if you altered the elbow or changed it than you will need an inline brake... .
The pacbrake is designed to interface with your ecm in a seamless manner so when a master switch is turned on... . the brake comes on and goes off by the ecm... .
The other way to run the brake is a switch installed on the fuel injection pump... . this switch sees the throttle coming back to idle and allow the brake to come on. . and if you touch the throttle the brake shuts down... .
Some of our older stuff, fords mostly use the switch on the pump... our new dodges, 04, 04. 5, and 05 all connect to the ECM... in either case unless you knew the difference you can't tell it by driving them.....
We suggest to the customers if your truck can support the connections to the ECM to use them... . if not use the other mechanical switch... . on the newer trucks the fuel pressure needs to drop off before the exhaust brake comes on... and the ECM is programed for this..... so its very seamless and on the automatics the ECM will force a downshift when it sees the exhaust brake working... .
