new pacbrake works well. Install was understandable but lengthy(5 hrs). Stock elbow is a squeeze to remove. The ECM is a reach to install the # 20 pin. Under dash wiring is a circus act. I purchased the switchpac shifter switch. It is a very firm audible click that should'nt get accidentlly bumped "on". Towing 16,500 total lbs. at 7% grade 6th gear (approx 2000 rpm), keeps me at 55 mph all the way down. Down shifting make the brake feel strong, especially in 3rd and 2nd gear at 2700 rpm. I don't enjoy all the down shifting around town, but I'm trying it. Yes, Pacbrake is worth the money. I don't think other products are $300 to $400 better in performance. Shopped around then went to Peirs.

pacbrake is a good product

I like mine and I have used the jacobs/dodge one also I prefered the pacbrake , have never used the bd but thought that the I couldn't aford the extra cash layout.

The BD brake costs more, yes, but you get a lot more for the money. They have a product comparision chart that's a real eye-opener, that they pass out at events and trade shows, and it shows all the extra features their brake has, like special bearings.

Not knocking the other brands, you understand, but the BD brake's quality is real nice... ...

I've had my Pacbrake for over 150K miles. The only problem was that the vacuum valve stuck once so the brake stayed closed. That was kind of an exciting smoke show on Broadway in Eureka. Since then I give the valve a shot of lube once in a while. No other problems. I use it every day. It's turned on as soon as I start the truck and off for shut off cool down. Based on this kind of experience I wonder if the extra features touted by the competition are worth it.
