I just purchased a PacBrake for my 2004. 5 and have not installed a EGT probe yet. Was wondering if anyone put thier probe in the exhaust brake housing, if so what is the temperature differance between the exhaust manifold and the engine brake housing. Any and all answers greatly appreciated.

It varies, there is really not a set steady value. I would recommend putting the thermocouple pre turbo.

I had mine post turbo. Then when I installed my Pacbrake I moved it pre-turbo. I could not believe the difference from pre to post. I definately recommend pre. My numbers where 300-400 hotter.

I have the PacBrake as well - about the only thing I find that tap usefull for is a turbo temp monitor for cooldown.

Ditto on what everyone else said.

Put your probe in the manifold unless you are running 2 gauges and want to moniter turbo temps for shutdown.
