2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Paint before or after spray on bed liner

Was wondering if anybody knows what i should do first paint or spray on liner?

the bed liner guys say they need it first and the painter said the same whos right.

I'd get the paint first and then have the bedliner put in. That way you won't get overspray on the bed liner. Have the painter take the paint up and over the bed rail like usual and then the spray liner applied over it if you want the bed rails done that way. But like I said the overspray would be a problem on a black finished bed liner.

If you paint it first, you need to tell the liner guy that it's been repainted. I found this out the hard way and had to pay double when the liner peeled the new paint off.

Very true. You'll want to make sure the paint guy gets a really good painting surface to make the new paint adhere better. I paint houses for a local company and one customer didn't want to spend the extra money to get all the old paint off by use of a sand blaster (project was a metal building about 17 years old) so we used a standard pressurized water gun to get what we could off... couple weeks later the new paint started peeling. We were going to repaint for free but the owner was an ******* about it.

I've painted many cars & I can tell you that if you are getting the liner first... . you will have problems with paint peeling along the seem where the liner meets the paint. This is because the painter won't be able to sand against the liner really well & also it will be a butt edge. This is what you don't want [butt edges]. Water, snow & dirt over time will make the paint peel. Also make sure that the painter takes your door handles & trim off or the butt edges will peel. I say paint first & wait 30 days for the paint to fully cure... then the liner. Just my advice.

Am I SOL cause I have a bed liner? Someday I want to paint my truck, but I have a spray on Bedliner. I also have bedliner material on my rockers, what to do??

Thanks guys that what I thought paint first! I called the spay liner and he said he could do it after but he needs to now its new paint because his wire tape might peel the paint



Warpig how do you like it on your rockers I was going to do the same?
