Use Zaino Bros. & clay on black VW Jetta. When used w/Zaino scratch remover (can't remember number) the paint looks deep. All the scratches and swirls that come from winter washing are gone. Used Permashield on truck. Did a pretty good job. Next time will do it after clay bar. Hard to compare as truck is driftwood and doesn't show swirl marks, etc as black does. Nice thing about using non carnuba is the time between applications. Most carnubas are gone after 3 to 4 washings. I have a lot of things to do in a limited amount of time. Constantly waxing vehicles is not one of them.

Swirl Marks / Perma Shield

Glad to hear you think the Perma Shield did a good job. One thought to add, which is especially true of black or dark paint, like on your Jetta.

If you see swirls, [which is usually the paint's "fingerprint", so to speak, as opposed to actual swirls caused by buffing too abrasive a compound into the finish] then it's a good idea to treat it with the Perma Shield twice, initially. That's because the Finish Guard does a real excellent job cleaning the finish with the first coating, but may spend most of itself in that role, and not leave quite an ideal amount of "shield" on as a protector & gloss enhancer.

Net effect: do most vehicles twice (especially older, neglected finishes or dark colors) initially, say the first week or so (first day if you wish).

I won't waste words here, the bottle directions tell you how under "Older /Faded Vehicles", it's not difficult at all.

Glad to hear some feedback on the Perma Shield Finish. I'll start a new thread asking any other users to comment on their experience now that a good number have their 'stuff'.

I just clayed my truck last week using Geno's clay magic (Great Product) and then used Liquid Glass. I cannot tell you how slick this makes the paint, I cannot set a rag on the body without it slipping off. I have used Liquid Glass for about 15 years now (mainly on a 70 Plymouth Roadrunner show car) and have not found anything better. Just another . 02 cents in the pot.
