My truck just turned 16,000 miles . While doing my spring wax job I noticed a huge amount of paint chipping on my rocker panels . Way more then any other truck I have owned in the past . Has anybody had any paint deffect problems with the inferno red color ? The truck has never left pavement in the 9 mounths since I drove it off the lot .

Mine looks like it was sand blasted on the front. I put the Dodge rubber mud flaps on to keep the rockers from getting damage, but no matter what chips are unavoidable. However, I do feel that the paint does chip easily.

Take a look at Ford rocker panels, they treat them with a different textured process that seems to help. Why Dodge cant do this? It probably costs $3. 00 dollars more per truck.

This has been a problem on Dodge trucks for years, the paint chips easily. My remedy was to install running boards and mud flaps, which has stopped about ninety five percent of the chips. Others have line-x'ed the rockers or installed stainless covers.

Since my post I have added mud flaps front and dear . Now I'm starting to understand why so many of these trucks have mud flaps. Still considering the Line-x to the rocker panels. Has anybody had any luck with having rockers re-painted ? Did that hold up better then the factory paint?
