I went to get some touchup paint for my 2011 2500 and found out the code is not available on the aftermarket or at the dodge dealer. After contacting dodge, i was told it was a copy wrighted color not supplied by dodge. I bought an extended bumper to bumper, but what will happen if the truck needs body repair when nobody has the paint mix formula? The code on the door is P12 and the window sticker says bright red.

A quick Google search shows it being Coca Cola red,Ditzler/ppg 70002,dupont 93-23797r

Any automotive paint store that carries either brand will be able to mix you a batch

THe paint books at my local auto paint supply store does not have a listing for this code. They even tried a paint lab that they use. They said Coke red was close, but not exact.

There were several special colors for these trucks.

BRIGHT RED

* NOTE - Orders may remain in sub-firm (C - status) until the minimum build

quantity of 10 is reached. Headlamp filler panels and door handles are black whenordering this special paint.

383 450 P12

You would just have to find a good body shop. My wife used to paint at a body shop. This is not unheard of. They would just start with something close and then tint and do test panels until they got a match.

I am not saying a good body shop coundn't match the color, but there should be no need to. The paint mix code should be available.

I found code P12 with a Sherwin Williams Automotive Paint Code of 66568

Then found these guys, it shows as a Sprinter Color but who cares, the code and mix are the same... select the 635 red, then hit the Choose your color button and all size touch-ups available will show up.

I know paints can have slight differences by year. Those are 2010 and 2012. Mine is 2011. My real problem is that the manufacturer should support their vehicles completely. The dealerships don't even show this color for 2011 in their data bases. I guess if it ever needs any collision repairs, the insurance company can fiqure it out.

The one posted for the 2012 will work for your 2011, it's the same color. There are slight variances on same-year vehicles with the same color, like the pearl may be a bit different, or more metallic is in a certain batch, etc. A body shop has these on-hand and can match your variance to the paintcode.

I used to paint and I've done this on almost every paint job I've done. Once I painted the drivers side of an F150, and got caught in a jam and the shop owner stacked a bunch of cars in the shop behind me, so I couldn't roll it outside to check the variance in the sun. Guess what? Rolled it out the next morning, after I matched the best I could inside the shop, and the whole side had more metallic than the original passenger side. So I had to redo it. This is nothing that a bodyshop doesn't do all the time

Are you sure it's an 11, not a 12?

It appears P12 is called Coke Red and Bright Red, probably the same color just a different product line.

Yep it's an 11. And I know that a good body shop should be able to mix the paint, but I still say there is no good reason for Dodge not to furnish the code.
