Help! I washed by truck this weekend and noticed the clear coat on the hood and top of the cab is all spider webed and the white basecoat is flakeing off. I saw a post about going after DC but can't locate it again. If anyone has jumped through the hoops, or can direct me to the correct web site I would be very thankful. Thanks. Dave Hauser

Thanks Pit Bull, it really frosts me that in this day and age of technology that the company can't put a coating on a $37,000 truck that will last more than 7 years. Dave:mad:

Yes you can get DC to pay for a new paint job no matter how old the vehicle or how many owners after you jump though the hoops. I had a $6k paint job done on mine, took about 4 hours of my time and a $45 small claims court filing fee. Everyone who goes though this process wins, DC is just banking on the fact that most people won't go though the hassle. Now I'm about to go though the process again wiyh my other truck.

Follow these directions http://peelingpaint.homestead.com/

i hear yah

My truck is doing the same thing, same year to, I will be going after DC also. It is a factory defect that is for sure

Should have added the paint defect that you can collect on is only for '85-'98 rigs, after that DC started using paint that isn't supposed to peel. Peeling paint on later models is usually a problem with the application and surface prep, whereas the '85-'98 problem is with the paint itself.

This is the reason the peeling paint is covered-

"If a product is sold with a known manufacturer's defect, the implied warranty of merchantability becomes, in effect, a lifetime warranty. Therefore, all peeling paint claims are warranty claims by definition. "

Thanks guys, now I have some ammo to go to the dealer with and start the good fight! Hopefully I can get something done before any metal damage is done. ( I will touch it up with Krylon ) Dave
