Any tips on how to deal with the peeling OEM paint? I am thinking about having my 91. 5 repainted and was wondering if the shops charge extra to deal with the peeling paint that hasn't bonded to the primer. If I wait another couple of years nature and the car wash will strip the paint for me but I am not willing to wait that long or look that bad. I've noticed this peeling paint on many vehicles made by the big three in the late 80's and early 90's. Is grinding or paint stripper used in this process? I was thinking about tackling this part myself it it would save a bunch of $. Any suggestions? Also-my one ton (single rear wheels) has no cab marker lights. Is this common?

Pat, I've been lucky so far on the paint peeling issue. Seems to me that bad primer was to blame for the peeling problems on several makes. I believe it has to be taken down to bare metal to solve the problem.

I heard on the Boise news tonight that you guys got a couple inches of snow on the mountain today. So much for summer!

Pat the clearance lights are a requirement for any vehicle with dual rear wheels. With single rear wheel trucks the clearance lights are an option.

I wish I were a judge in the People's Paint Court. All of the manufacturers would repaint those trucks properly-no exceptions and no charge. They wolud supply a like vehicle for the entire down time.

I think the determining factor for clearance lights is the GVWR. 10,000 lbs and over requires the lights. The dual rear wheel D/W 350 has a GVWR of 10,100 with a P/U box and 11,000 with the Cab and Chassis.
