Just changed the oil yesterday and while the intake hose was off I was looking for the infamous silencer ring. I think it's the round metal conical shape just inside the retaining ring. But I'll worry about that later.
I'm poking around and notice that one, and only one fin, on the turbo has what appears to be white paint (almost like flat finger nail polish) on it. I wanted to make sure it wasn't producing flakes or anything so I do the fingernail scrape test and sure enough it scrapes right off
. :--)
This may just be me (the novice) thinking but I thought you NEVER want junk/dust/PAINT/gravel/boulders/whatever to go into the turbo like that. Isn't that why there's a big ol' air filter at the beginning of that hose? What gives?
A. Go back and get the rest off and vacuum out?
B. Don't worry about it as it won't affect anything?
C. Go to Dodge and show them so if there's problems in the future I can blame them?
D. ?
