Tire Size vs. Mileage Question

I have an 04. 5 model truck with 26k miles. The paint is peeling off of the front plastic bumper in several spots showing the black plastic underneath. The largest spot is the size of a quarter. I don't have any other problems with the paint and show no signs of damage from rocks or debris hitting the truck. Is this covered under the paint warranty? Anyone else having the same problem? My truck is the bright metallic silver SLT model.

Thanks.

Robert

If the dealership has a good service manager, you stand a good chance of getting it covered. If the service manager chooses to tell you that it isn't covered, that sometimes is his prerogative. This is similar to having your rear bumper rust, like mine is doing. I was told it was the iron in the rocks that hit the bumper that causes the rust. I was instructed to use chrome polish to cover "normal bumper wear. " Others have received reasonable service for aesthetic issues as this, you should expect the same. Good luck.

This type of thing is a gray area when it comes to warranty even although you have a "Bumper to Bumper" warranty. I would think that if you went back to the dealer where you purchased the truck, they would take care of it as a customer satisfaction issue.

Same thing happened to my '04 with only 3200 miles. Dealer tried to tell me it was from leaving dead lovebugs on it too long. The surface was never prepped correctly as it was as smooth as the paint was that was flaking off. They covered it, finally, but didn't get in any hurry.

Did they replace the plastic bumper or did they repaint it? What dealer did you go through?

That was a question I asked my dealer when I traded off my 04 for an 04. 5. My 04 had the worst paint of any truck Ive ever owned. My lighter "atlantic blue 04. 5 has 10k on it with not a single scratch or chip. My dealer claims that a paint flake will be covered under warranty if it appears to be a defect from the factory. :)

They did not replace the piece, just repainted it but they did a great job on it. No complaints here. I've had pretty good overall results with my dealer here. Kade Marshall in Giddings, TX.

My 03 did the same thing---------first they said something hit it but when they couldnt find a mark or scrape they sent me to get it repainted and it has held up very nice

My 03 sport the paint started to flake off on the front bumper and the Dealer set up an appointment and they took it off and fixed it. . Good as new.
