Took mine to a body shop to find out why bird crap etches it so badly. My truck has prettiest paint job of any I have owned . Body guy said the new paints they are using are the result of EPA regs and that all brands of cars have problems. He said there was no way he could match in the paint and clearcoat without painting the whole dang hood.

If that hood gets painted it will be with urethane INSTEAD of clearcoat.

DC said birdcrap is an ''act of God and is not covered by warantee''

The paint on my truck also chips very easily. A couple of months after I bought it I was looking under it to see about mounting some nerf bars and noticed that the rocker panels had some chips in them. That changed my mind on the nerf bars, I bought a pair of Stull SS running boards and a good set of mud flaps. Used touch up paint on the chips and no problems since. No doubt, this is not the best paint!

I figure that since the other manufacturers are not any better, there is nothing that can be done to better the paint used. I am going to use Stainless rocker panels to cover what rock chips I have and prevent new ones.

what, not buy a japanese truck! man this is a world market. i will buy a japanese truck as soon as they build a full size with a diesel. clinton toasted my loyalty when he shipped all of it south... .
