Anyone hear about paint problems on new Dodge pu's? Have a friend who has had one sitting near Omaha for at least a week. Testing paint to see what the problems are! jps
Yes, very much discussed here and on other boards. Search for "paint" in 3rd Gen and you'll find lots'o info. In a nut shell it was a problem with Corrosion inhibitor in the primer coat. His dealer should know enough about it by now to give him all the info he needs.
Haven't heard of any or had any. Other then the paint being very thing. But that is not a Dodge thing, all the big three got the same thing going with skimpy on the paint.
Check out the post "Audited" in 3G forum. My truck was affected and then inspected and it failed. My truck hit the ground in denver on 4/2 and the dealer told me about the needed inspection. He told me if it failed the inspection that more then likely DC would pull the truck to be sold at acution as-is and a replacement would have to be built. The inspections were not moving very fast so on 4/10 we ordered its replacement. On 4/31 he called to tell me the first truck failed the inspection. Luckly we responded early because the second truck ships 5/5. And just think this is after I bought my first CTD in 11/02 and DC is in the process buying that one back (lemon). But hay, Im commited to the Cummins motor. It will be all worth it... ... . it better be or I will be commited.
Yep ... ... I herd the problem too, buddy at work has been waiting for his for weeks. DC was holding them doing caliper checks on the paint for thickness having to do with primer coats, i. e. rust inhib. ect. (according to what the dealer told him). his was just released as "OK" and is on it's way. By the way this truck was white, have no idea if it's a color specific problem
91 w250 7 1/2" lift w/36" radials..... G3 SLT leather, 2500 quad, HO 4X4 on order (not white )
I had a local dealer show me a line of trucks in the lot, one of which I got to test drive, and all of them had "This vehicle not for sale" stickers on the windshield. They said it was a paint issued that DC had to come and inspect
My truck has been on a railroad car since April 16th and isn't here yet but the dealer indicated that a few trucks were arriving at the dealership every few days. He expects mine to be among the ones delivered this week. Hope so! We wanted to get the 500 miles on the axles before hooking up to our trailer and taking it to the beach for my Mother-in-law's 80th birthday.
May have to leave the trailer at home and stay in the rental house instead. :{
