No problems here. . but does anyone have any tricks up their sleaves to prevent the paint from getting rock chips underneath the doors?

Thanks

Kev

Ditto what Bob said... I got the extra long ones from Dodge, they work great on my 01 4x4

K, I think it is 3M that makes a clear plastic that is a stick on for just this. My Pherd came from the factory with it installed on the rear lower fenders where the splash zone was.

I like the look of my truck without mudflaps. After about a week, I decided I like the look of it without chips even better. So, on with the mudflaps!

Big Yellow,
Take a look through your owners manual and warranty manual booklets about paint warranty. I think the paint has a 5 year warranty if I remember correctly,so you may be out of luck there.

Dodge didn't have the big problem that chevy had with paint peeling. I was trying to buy a '94 recently that did have a 6" round spot where paint had peeled off. So far that was the only Dodge I saw.

Around the Houston area, I have seen many 95 and under Dodges with a paint pealing problem . I think the heat and humidity might contribute. The Chevys have an even worse time. Some of the Chevys have almost a third of the paint falling off. It seems that the Ford paint tends to hold up the best. Only things that might help in the paint pealing problem is to wax wax wax. Or keep it garaged as much as possible. Go to the dealer and complain. You never know, they might feel sorry for you and pick up part, or all the tab for the paint repair. Squeeky wheel theory.

Guys... where can I get a cool set of mudflaps for both the front and back of my 2500 4x?

Thanks

Kev,

I don't know how cool they are, but I got mine from Dodge. I like them, and they do a good job. They're just plain black and say Dodge in black letters. Not very flashy, but I like a more subtle look. Part number is: 82401227 and 82401228 (one is front, one is rear).

The Dodge mudflaps my dealer installed on my '96 4X4 weren't nearly long enough. I made some extensions out of 1/8" black plastic and fastened them to the bottom of the Dodge flaps. It looks kind of dorky but does a good job of protecting the paint.

I have one that's grey, mudflaps are a must on below the door, mine is peeling paint like crazy on the fender wells. Stone's may have started it but I have 3" and 4" circles missing. I've seen white ones also peel but not any other colors. I'm in a dry frigid climate.
