I'm wanting to give my SLT more of the SPORT look and was going to paint the grill. Will paint stay on the chrome nose piece or grill?

JBoone, I was wanting to do the same thing, I don't like chrome and as soon as I get rid of my OEM bumpers I am going to try and strip the chrome flaking or coating off of the grill gaurd and then paint it over. I dont think it would be good to paint on the chrome but maybe we can get advice from an auto body guy????????????how bout it fellas

This something that I have been wanting to do for years The only chrome left on my truck is the grill, and the wheels. I intend to get the wheels powdercoated black, and would love to lose the shiny grill.

Mine has a couple of nasy rock hits on it that have deformed the chrome paint a little bit. It looks to me that the grill is acutally clear plastic with the color applied from the back.

The only difficulty I have had is figuring out a good way to remove the chrome paint...

A buddy of mine painted his. All he did was scuff the chrome really good with something like 100 grit sanpaper, then shot a few coats of a good etching primer on it, then paint & clear. It's held up good for 3 years now!
