2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission paking brake adjustment

Just out of curiosity, how do you all adjust your parking brakes? I have 4 wheel discs with the drum parking brakes and am replacing the shoes today. I just wanted to know what your thoughts. What I have been doing is spinning the tire and adjusting out until it stops. It has worked for me but I think it wears shoes out too fast.

before I broke mine. I adjusted the star wheel on the inside of the break housing area. cant remember if there was a dust boot. but I would adjust them well crap i cant remember I need to look in the chiltons now you have me thinking. well I dont have mine in my truck right now due to the bracket holding the e-brake peddle cracked on the firewall. so really I typed this up for nothing of no help to you.

I adjust the starwheel until I can feel drag while spinning the tire, then back off just to the point that the drag goes away.
