Guys, tell me about oil pan gasket replacement. I've got an '01 D2500, 6spd,

4x4, with 250,000 miles on it. What do I have to to stop the fierce spotting? Any resources? References? Inquiring minds.....

Thanks-warren

MAKE sure it's the pan -

I was thinking the same and it turned out to be the turbo returm line located on the passenger side (in front of and underneath the oil filter) - it is a metal hose with a small 4-5" rubber hose that connects to the block - the hose had started leaking... went to Cummins NW and picked up the hose (now silicone from ENGLAND) and a small gasket for where the metal hose attaches to the engine... STOPPED teh problem - it was allowing oil to run and it looked like the pan was leaking-NOT!
