Ok. so here's what happened to me. I am on my way to Kellogg, ID from Salem Oregon. Bout half way there, I stop for a moment, then restart engine and get a "check engine lite". So as I am on a tight schedule, I say "Oh ****" among other things. Being only mildily "BOMBED" I hurry into a parking lot, pull my EZ, get on the CB and look for a dealer. I go to the dealer, and guess what the code is? P0071 (Ambient Battery Temp Sensor Performance). Lesson learned? Is there a chart of codes and how do you get the code # displayed? Waisted a lot of time for nothing, and obviously didn't have to remove the EZ as the hood was never even raised. Obviously, I have shot my warranty in the ASS by just merely having a PacBrake so why should I care if the EZ is in place if I have to go to dealer. Any thoughts, comments, etc. would be appreciated.

Hi RCone! To get the codes cycle the key 3 times and look at your spedometer were your mileage is kept. After you get code. Put the number in TDR search and you will come up with all the post on that code. I hope this helps.

Does an exhaust brake cause your power train warranty to deep six? I was thinking about getting one

Maybe with the auto, but Dodge recommends one if you're towing heavy. They just don't recommend theirs with the automatic.

RE: Voiding warranty with an exhause brake. I guess it depends on whom you talk to. I had a 96 with a PacBrake and blew the transmission and TC with 36,500 miles on it. It took me awhile, but Chrysler (Not DC) did replace it even tho I had only a 36k drivetrain warranty but I did have documentation of transmission cooler line problems. Was the stupid plastic fitting on the cooler lines that kept going south. Had to get the regional Chrysler manager involved. Now with the later models I am to understand, and again depends who gives you the info, that it does void the warranty. A lot of talk about the Magnuson-Moss act, but consider this... ... ... . DC has a lot more money to fight a court battle than I do. Maybe the word "arbitration" would scare them off. So the long and the short of it is, I Don't Know, maybe it's on a case by case basis. I would not be without a exhaust brake tho, my life is worth more than my warranty with my 5ver pushing me down a hill dangerously.

Thanks for the reply, Worktomuch. What we need tho, and given the fact that I have no laptop, let alone an internet connection (no offense), while on the road, is a pocket "quick reference" list of codes so we would know if we had a serious problem or a stupid faulty computer code such as I experienced which surely could have waited. Has anyone compiled this information all in one place on this forum? If no one has, maybe the TDR staff could publish such a thing which would be really useful. Comments anyone, please?

Thanks for the information Playtolittle. As I do happen to have a Rand McNally under the back seat I probably will print the whole damn thing out. It would be nice to know if I had a serious code or a piece-of-crap code which cost me bout 2 hours.

Regards,

Roger
