Had to park in a valet parking situation earlier today, and when I got my truck back and left the lot, I noticed my brake indicator light and ABS light were on. I rarely use the parking brake, so I figured the parking attendant had used it. Used the parking brake release, and nothing happened. The parking brake pedal just flops now. I was able to drive home without a problem, so I suspect the cable snapped. If this is the case, would the ABS light and brake indicator light stay lit? Other than having no parking brake now, and the indicators being lit, I can't seem to find any malfunctioning with the ABS system itself.

Could be. But when those lights are on its usually the sensor in the read differential. Was your speedometer working? If it was its probably not the sensor. Could be a loose connection.

Do you have 4 wheel antilock?? Our 99 dually 4x4 has rusted out both heat shields and the cable to the sensors melt down. $95 for the sensor $13 for the heat shield and a chance to meet the jerk who designed it PRICLESS.

I think I have antilock front and rear... but wouldn't bet the ranch on it. My dealer suggested that the valet at the parking garage may have spun the rear wheels, which might have activated the sensor. I disconnected the battery cables, reconnected them, and took if for a test drive. The ABS and brake light are no longer lit, so I'm hoping this was just a fluke.

If you spin the rear wheels and the fronts don't turn (like when on the dyno) it will usually set a code for "no signal" from the front wheel speed sensors. I'm not sure how the controller will clear a speed sensor related code on it's own, it may be so many key-on cycles or something like that.

The parking brake deal needs to be checked. If the cables are hung up the brakes can still be partially applied and doing bad things.
