The cable for my parking brake snapped. Was wondering how hard of a job it is to replace and if there are any procedures on how to do so. It's on a 91 W250 regular cab. Thanks in advance!
If I under stand right its the front cable that broke on you, the worst part of that will be the hold down/ seal plate where it goes through the floor, the screws some time get a little sticky.
Just replace the hole assembly from the cab down. The left and right cables going to the drums are available aftermarket. I got the front part from Dodge. It's a pain in the *** but worth the effort. The rear cables will fray over time and the parking brake will not fully release causing rear shoe wear and dragging brakes.
I have a complete brake assy from the part that bolt's under the dash to the cable on side of truck . Send me a PM and let me know what truck you have . REg cab or extended cab
or you can e mail me -- email address removed -- just put Dodge in subject line Please .
It's not that bad. To do the rear cables the drums have to come off to get the assemblies off the backing plates. It's a little tight getting the main cable to fit thru the floor hole but it can be done, just make sure small children aren't within earshot. I burned up two right drums before i replaced mine, now no issues.
