Went to set the parking brake this morning and the pedal went quite easily all the way to the floor. I was parked on a hill and the truck started to roll, so I knew it was broken. I traced the broken cable at the rear wheel inside the spring going into the rear disc. Not sure why it broke; could be repeated use (6sp), but it did not break cleanly. I guess it finally wore through. Keep an eye on those cables! Now, is it a PITA to replace?

Parking brake cable

How many miles do you have on your truck? I'm in portsmouth VA and would be interested in how or why you have experienced this failure. Since you posted in the 3rd gen forum, I would think your truck is too new for this to occur. You might want to fill in your signature so we can see what truck you are talking about. Ken Irwin

Your "readers rigs" states you have a 95 truck. . That is 10 years old and a 2nd gen, but they didnt have rear discs, so I assume you have a newer truck. Am I correct to think that?

I would say that Chrysler would fix this at no charge if you complain enough. Its a safety issue. If you are in good with the service manager, it could help.

Good luck!

Truck has 105k on the clock. You are wise in assuming that since I posted in the 3G forum, that I have a 3G... 2003. Thanks for the heads up on the readers rig gallery. I forgot I had one for my first CTD.
