2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission parking brake?

The other day I pulled out of my driveway and noticed the brake light was flashing but I had released the parking brake before I took off well every time I use the parking break now I have to set it and release it numerous times to get the light to go away I have looked under the truck and everything seems to look ok anyone have any suggestions? Could be the switch that trips the light is either bad or out of adjustment.

Had this problem on my 96... The factory grease had either dried up or lost its lubricity, so the e-brake arm would not travel far enough to activate the "e-brake off" switch... Got some good spray lithium grease, hosed her down with the arm in the up and down position, and it works great...
