I just found out that the parking brakes are not ran off of the disc brakes. . Has anyone changed theirs?? What should I expect? Where did your get yours and how much did you pay???

WE have them on the shelf... but you might not need to change them. . they can be adjusted just like normal drum brakes with an adjuster... they just don't self adjust...

Sometimes when you go to remove the drum/rotor you have to back off the emergency brake shoes to remove the assembly...

About 19. 00 for the set of new shoes...

Does this help...

Had mine changed. Can't remember now what I paid, but recall that I didn't like it.

Recall clearly that the tech had quite a time getting the e-brake innards apart -- retainer clips bonded, etc.

My brake doen't hold real well and my mailbox is on a hill. Something to look at on a warmer day though... .

How do I adjust them do I have to remove the drum??? My parking brake does nothing period... .

My 04 has a slot in the backing plate. . through this slot is a star adjuster just like the old drum brakes... but these do not self adjust... . If you have to remove them its suggested that you turn the star adjuster backwards...

Like drum brake, spin the wheel until the brake shoes drag..... than back off 1/8 of a turn... . should than work fine...

My truck wasn't holding on slopes with the fiver on and I am on an extended vacation. I went to a dealership and $45. 00 later I had good parking brakes. As stated above they just need setting up
