What is the part # for Rancho 5000 Steering Stabilizer? Local 4wd shop said that no part # exist for the 99 and up Rams. Is he full of it? I find this hard to believe. So what # do I need. :)
 
Well just checked their website and surprisingly it doesn't list one for the 99 and newer. WTF:confused: Can I use the 8800 gvw stabilizer for the 98's on my truck? Anyone done this?
 
Part number for Rancho stableizer is #RS5404, comes with hardware if you need it. I used these shocks with my SKJ dual brackets they are better shocks than the SKJ.

I am looking for the part # that will go in place of the factory Stabilizer. I do not have a dual setup though it might be nice.
 
Yes I had the factory Rancho stableizer, the part number once again is RS5404 comes with the hardware. I guess you mis understood me before, this shock also will fit on the dual SKJ set up, same size bushings etc. but is a stock replacement. Good luck.



$40. 00 at local 4x4 shop and got mine for $36 summit racing.
 
Sorry, the way you worded your post made me think that you hadn't had experience putting them in place of the factory stabilizer. :eek: My Badd. :) Thanks.

I just installed the r5404 on my 95 2500 4x4. I am not impressed with it. I had to make up a bushing to make it fit on the frame end and I seem to get more vibration with it than with the oem stabilizer. I'm going to replace it as soon as i find something better.
 
I just mounted the T-Rex stabilizer on my 01.

It is big bucks, but like everything else they sell/manufacture, it is a work of art.

Be wary of the Rancho, the 5404 I bought came without any hardware. I thought I could just reuse the factory pieces once I got the original off. I could have made it work if I had access to a welder. I took the rancho back and bought a Superlift (checking for hardware at the store), haven't had any trouble with the superlift. Biggest problem was removing the old stab, do NOT even think about it without a pitman arm puller
 
Well, went and got the 5404 and installed it today. Now I see why they are not offered for the 99 and newer trucks. In 99 they changed the size of the taper in the tie rod. The supplied taper is a hair too small however it was a easy fix. Just took the supplied tapered stud and continued the taper about another 3/16 of a inch so it fit snug in the hole. Took nothing more then a grinder and a still hand. Luckily The supplied stud had plenty of material to work with. I still can't fathom why Rancho has not made the correct stud when you are talking about 3 years worth of trucks. All the other supplied equipment was perfect though I also had to use the factory nut and bolt on the frame side. That doesn't bother me in the slightest though.



Has anyone called Rancho to see why they are not making a kit for the 99 to 02 trucks?:confused:
 
I used a Rancho RS5404 on my 2001 3500. As I had previously heard, there is no way to mount this stabilizer with the included hardware (at least on my particular year). What I did was to use a 12-ton press to remove the tapered pin from the OEM stabilizer. In doing so, the ring on the OEM stabilizer split but the pin was salvaged. I then pressed this pin into the rancho stabilizer using lots of lubricant and a special wooden jig. The Rancho ring held together (whew!) while the pin was inserted cleanly. It works perfectly and the steering feels much firmer.
