Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Part Number For Seal where 47RE V/B gear selector comes out A/T case

Does anyone know the D/C part number for the seal for where the gear selector of the valve body comes out of the transmission case in the 47RE? (Near the transmission cooler lines)



The FSM states that a 15/16 socket is used to install it. I am pretty sure that this is the culprit behind my AT fluid leaking all over the place. I thought that it was the cooler lines but their tight and sound. I removed the valve body once to install a TransGo kit and may have damaged or accidentally knocked the seal out. I am tired of the leak so its time to fix that one and the tail housing leak now.

The seal on the V/B shaft is an O-ring, you'd have to drop the V/B to replace it. I believe the neutral saftey switch that rides on the side of that shaft uses a 15/16" socket. The seal on the N. S. S. is a tapered washer.

Thanks for your assistance! Iknow that I will need to drop the V/B again. Are you saying that it is a standard o-ring that I can get at any auto parts store?

Hold on a minute. The seal on the selector shaft is not an o-ring, it is an actual seal. The Mopar part # is 4505098. It is also availble at any parts store under BCA p/n 8609. If they don't carry that particular brand they should be able to cross-reference to the brand of seals they carry. Should only cost $5 or less. It's the same seal they have used since the 60's on all of the rear-wheel drive transmissions.

Make sure there is no scarring on the shaft or it will leak with a new seal

I suggest stopping by a trany shop and asking for one. They are the same as used for the torqueflights. Most any shop will have one in stock.

Thanks. When I first called NAPA he said that he couldn't find it. I know from experience that it's better to have a part number to locate the right replacement.
