2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Part number Help for black ST gray grille and black center caps!!!!

I have a 2002 Ram SLT it came with a chrome grille and crome center caps on the Al rims. I just purchased black 19. 5" rims and think that the truck would look good "blacked out". I have seen in the past ST trucks with black center caps and a dark gray grille. I have been to three dealers and none of them can tell me the part numbers for these parts without a VIN of a truck that had these originally. Please help!!!

Center caps in black, 5DK62DX9AC. The gray grilles (not chrome) come on only one model the WS or work special. These trucks are built for light but bulky loads and are only available in 2wd with a V-6. Have your dealer call the "parts specifier" to find the part number for the gray grille without a vin. Since most dealers no longer use catalogs but rely on "STAR Parts" the vin nonsense is here to stay.

I have aluminum wheels on my '02 2500 (8 lug), these caps are identical in shape and fit to the originals, just black instead of chrome. I bough them to use on my steel wheels with snows.

Do a web search for hub caps, there are second hand caps out there.

When I finally get around to some steel wheels I'll be blacking out my truck as well.

The black caps are not entirely identical to the chrome ones. My truck came with the black caps and cheep rims. I got a set of stock chrome rims and center caps, and for fun, I put the chrome caps on the stock steel rims. The black caps have a few places notched out of them so you can get them pried off becasue the stock steel rims sitck out around the cap. The chrome ones dont. You can wrap a wire coat hanger under the chrome cap and pry on that to get it apart.

Jff24Gordn, I bought a set of Dodge chrome center caps and they did have the notches like the black ones, maybe yours are after market or got missed in the factory? Might be as simple as grinding out a little notch ?

Black Caps

I looked at the 5DK62DX9AC caps. They will not work. The crome caps that I have from my original Al wheels snap onto 4 of the 8 lug nuts. The 5DK62DX9AC caps snap to the rim. Since my rim is aftermarket it will not work. I looked at all of the center caps at the dealer, there were none that were black and snapped on the lug nuts.

5DK63DX9AC (one number different) attach the same way as the stock chrome caps. The P/N of 52038268 is also listed on the box.



I have as spare set of 4 brand new black ones and I held them up to a chrome one that came stock on my 99 and it looked to be the same, with the exception of the notches that were mentioned. I think they grip all 8 lug nuts though.

Black Caps continued

According to the dealer (I also looked at the screen) both 5DK63DX9AC and 52038268 are not valid part numbers? The following numbers are valid 5DK62DX9AC (black 8-lug but grips the steel rim not the nuts) and a 52038267 which there is not illistration of and I would have to buy it if he ordered it. Does anyone have in their possetion a black cap, that originally came on their truck that snaps on the lug nuts. If so could you provide me a VIN.

The 5DK62DX9AC WILL fit, they snap over the lugs, they DO NOT attach to the wheel. If this in not true I WILL EAT A SET OF FOUR WHILE YOU WATCH! I rotated tires on a cutomers truck today, he had one cap that attached to 4 lugs and three that had the round attachment that snapped over all 8 lugs. This customer had chrome steel wheels and the one odd cap (in his case) looked EXACTLY like the 4 chrome ones that are on my aluminum wheels. Order the 5DK62DX9AC caps and they will fit, if they don't I'll put my money where my mouth is and buy them from you.

I have always wanted to have black center caps. So, I read this thread with great interest.



I called Mechanicsville Dodge (good internet prices) to find out the cost and they said the part number 5DK62DX9AC was not valid. They said part number 5DK60PX9 was the new number but were not 100% sure. I believe Parcher.



I want black center caps that will fit the stock aluminum wheels for a 2001. 5 and look the same as the chrome ones only black.



Any one know what will work and the best place to get them from?

This is a picture of 52038268, as stamped on the inside.



(OK - I tried to post a picture but I'm not smart enough. I'll put it in my reader's rigs section. Its under Vic's 99)



The box I have says they are for BR and doesn't reference BE, so I might guess that this P/N was created before the BE bodies came out, so its probably at least a 6 year old number.



I think the ones that NMURRAY might be referring to are for the 3500's - the ones that have 4 sleeves rather then a circle that hits all 8 lug nuts???



I don't think I have seen caps that grip the rim except for the beauty rings.
