So I finally got time to get the transmission out for my SBC street DD install and once I got the POS DMF off, my rear main seal was wet with oil on the bottom, enough to make me wanna change it to keep from doing this clutch job over again in a few weeks.

Also when I removed the flywheel housing on the back of the engine, the cam freeze plug somehow stuck to the housing and pulled out of the back of the engine. Never been removed before, so not sure what happened in the factory on this engine.

Can someone please provide me with the part numbers for the rear cam freeze plug, the rear main seal as well as the rear main seal housing gasket, that kinda triangular looking gasket?? Truck is an '06 MegaCab as stated in the signature... ...

Thanks guys!

Joe,

I normally could do that for you, but my laptop here at home crashed and I am trying to revive the darn thing. .

I am using the wife's I-pad right now.

If someone doesn't provide them tonight I will gladly look them up tomorrow when I get to work.

Mike. :)

Thanks Mike!

Actually, I didn't get the rear flywheel housing completely off until just now, had to run some errands but I guess for the common rail engines they went away from the freeze plug and its now an o-ring that seals the rear of the cam so I would need the o-ring part number. it looks like about a 2" o-ring that fits in a groove in the flywheel housing. The cord is square as appposed to a normal o-ring with round cord.

Didn't even realize there was no freeze plug till I got it off. Those dam starter bolts were so friggin tight I just took the battery cable off then dropped the whole housing with the starter still attached then took starter off only to notice there was no freeze plug... . :-laf... still 12v minded :-laf

Quad ring p/n 3947328. Rear seal p/n 3934486. Rear seal housing gasket p/n 3957492. If you need a wear sleeve for the crank you must buy a seal and sleeve assy p/n 3926126. You need a special tool to install the thick walled sleeve.

FYI 03 was the first year of no cam plug, just the seal ring. The bolt pattern for the trans adapter to block was also changed with the new block. The HPCR adapter is on the right.

Is that rear main seal part number for the kit that comes with the plastic install sleeve and the steel depth/install ring? I looked all over my garage, I thought i had some extra ones from my 12v but couldn't find one..... not even sure if the seal is the same as a 12v so even if I found one of my old ones, not sure if it would work. Comes in handy to align/center the housing up before seal install.

Don't think I'll need a wear sleeve, crank looks pretty good for a new seal... ... little fine scotch brite will clean it up good. Had great luck with that on the old 12v... ...
