I am working on my 1992 w350. My a/c compressor is kicking on and off and will not let the system cool. I believe that I have narrowed it down to the a/c clutch cycling switch. During this repair and others when trying to get parts from advance, auto zone, or o'reileys I have run into the problem with the parts not being correct. I have tried having them look the parts up under other years and models of vehicles. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so how do I need to look up the parts. Thanks DPickard

Since I was working on my a/c I decided to change the dryer and expansion valve and convert the system to r134. I charged the system and my pressures are reading around 230 psi on the high side and 20psi on the low side which is normal. I ruled out the low pressure switch by making a jumper wire and plugging it into the low pressure switch plug. I also tested the WOT relay and it was ok. I hope that the a/c clutch cycling switch will fix the problem because it is sixty dollars from mopar. Thanks for responding and if you have any more ideas I would appreciate it.

Corret me if I'm wrong, but I thinnk 20psi is a little low. Seems like the FSM mentions 30-40 depending on ambient temperature.

Greenleaf knows more about this than I do; maybe he'll chime in here.

A blocked H valve will also cause what you are describing
