2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Passenger headlight dim?

Recently noticed that my passenger headlight was very dim. Figuring it was the bulb, I just replaced them both. That side is still dim. I'd say it indicates a wiring problem. Anyone seen this before to give me a place to start looking?

I have seen it before on other vehicles, Make sure that the plug is in all the way. This fixed a dim headlight on a car I owned. Just a thought. It was a pain to get the plug pushed in all the way on the new light.

If that doesn't work, check the ground lead to the dim light.

Definately ! Check the ground. It would'nt be a bad idea to add another one. The original is probably corroded. If you can , solder a new wire to the plug and take the other end to a bare metal ground. That should solve it.

Found it. Turns out the fuse for the right headlight was blown, and it must have been backfeeding through the ground from the right. Replaced the fuse (and both bulbs) and it's good to go.

Given that the truck in KLockliear's profile is a model year 2001 Ram that uses switched ground in the headlight circuit, your fix would do one of the following, depending on which wire at the plug was connected to ground:

• Blow the fuse again
• Create an always-on high-beam filament
• Create an always-on low-beam filament
