Passenger side negative battery cable routing

I had to replace the batteries on my truck last week. I noticed the negative side clamp on the passengers side has been corroding so I want to replace it. I wanted to verify where it bolted to (the engine block) but when I followed its path I noticed it runs through the shock tower??? Has anyone else seen this? Surely that can't be where they meant it to from the factory. I included a picture.

It doesn't have to go back that way. I would route it so that it can't get a chance to rub on anything. If your not the original owner, maybe someone did this before without paying attention

Had to be someone other than the factory.

I'm pretty sure that happened when the shocks were changed.

I thought the same thing initially about the shocks except that you don't need to disconnect that cable to change them. I am the original owner but I had a local garage do the shocks. In any case I will route it differently when I replace the cable. Do I need to get that cable from a dealer?

Its a pretty common negativ cable, one battery connector in ne side one ring clamp kn the other.
Ask your dealer what it cost from Dodge and if to expensive search other ways.

If you have a car elctric shop within reach then go there, they can fabricate it fast.
