Interesting problem, found few post on the subject.

From the drivers side I can roll the passenger window down, but it shorts on the way up. It' works fine from the passenger side though.

I replaced the switch assembly and it didn't help. It seems there is a short somewhere because the wires and the pwr window fuse gets hot. Any suggestions on where to look?

Seems it would short(stop, I take it this is what is doing when shorting ) going up or down. But then again it would take more power to get window up than down.

But I would look at wires where they go into the door. They usually get crimped there or the plastic insulation is worn thru grounding on the door.

Another costly possibilty is that your motor on passenger side is pulling to much power usually a sign of near future failure.

Passenger Window

I had a slightly different problem with the passenger window but try this. The passenger door lock switch and the window switch are the same type switch. Just for test, take the lock switch and swap it with the window switch and see if your problem goes away. Oo. Oo. Oo.

P. S. Aren't you still under warranty???

SandDemon,

You should be able to put a meter on the

wiring harness at the driver's side controls and

first find which wire is shorted to ground. Next

you would have to find the wire harness that carries this signal to the passenger's side. Once you find the wire, wiggle the bundle while watching the Ohm Meter. When the short goes away, you've found the general area of the problem.

I'd guess it is a short to ground where the wires go into or out of the doors.

Let us know what you find.

The new trucks have both switches in one module with lights so you can find them in the dark.

Mines been doing this for years, all new switches, every time I pull the door panels, it works great. Wires look good too. #@$%!
