I'm afraid I can beat that oil change deal. I bought my truck from Broadway Dodge in Littleton CO (Denver), and they provide 3000 mile oil changes for as long as you own the truck, at no extra charge. Unfortunately, I moved to Tucson, so I need to figure out what to do with it here. Can't really do it myself now as I am currently living in an apartment.

That's great, as long as you got a good deal on your truck up front. But I'm afraid they don't transfer oil deals, even if you'd paid for it up front. Otherwise, I'd try to buy it from you :) .

Why Not?? $40 for oil and a filter, I slide under my truck at 9:00 PM, drain the oil, spin off/on the oil filter, pop the hood, fill 'er up. Done quicker than the Diamondbacks blowing their playoff run! I put in an EZ change plug from Geno's so theres no spillage. I keep three or four empty gallon bottles to put the oil in, no drain pan, drop the filter in a bag. Goes so fast the wife doesn't even miss me! I don't spill a drop and don't think I would even be noticed in an apartment parking lot.

I live in a house, not an apartment, but still hate knuckle busting on anything anymore. I buy new so I don't have to. But I LIKE working on my CTD. I Can't wait to drop in a fuel filter:D

BTW, that first filter change was a b@@@h! There had to be 200lbs torque on the filter! The '03 filter does remove easily from underneath, but you'll need a metal filter socket wrench, there's not much room for a pliar style wrench.

Reading a thread like this is enough to make me puke... ..... Guess I just need to be more patient when buying my next new vehicle. :{ :{ :{ I will be two years into the loan and will still owe more than some have paid.

I bought used

But can you call an 18 month old CTD with only 34K miles used? Mine is a 3500 QC 4x4 with everything but leather and I paid $25K. Not bad for a truck that listed "new" for around $40K :D I recommend buying used. Oo.

I know people who NEVER buy new! There's value in that thinking, no question about it. And Economics 101 teaches us never to finance a depreciable, much less go out and buy something that depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot.

But there's something about a new car or truck that's special. So I make up the difference by buying new at the lowest possible price, taking care of what I buy and driving it until the wheels fall off. I have a '90 Honda Accord with 322,000 and it runs like a top. I bought it new too. Have I gotten my money's worth? You bet your bippy!!! :D :D :D

Jeremiah, you have the right idea. The only vehicle I have ever owned that had over 100K miles on it is the Landcruiser my wife drives. In the past I would buy vehicles with 20-30K miles on them and then trade them when they had 60-70K miles. That way I had a vehicle that was normally under warranty and felt and looked new. That was before I retired. Now I have to get with the program of driving them till the wheels fall off, which is the best bang for the buck approach. With me it's not that I don't get attached to my vehicles I just like so many different kinds that I like to change every few years. Wish I was rich with a 10 car garage :{ I'm going to have the CTD for a long time that is one of the reasons I want to learn everything I can about keeping it going. Most of the members want to know how to make their truck pull more or go faster. I want to know how to make mine last longer and break less often at the lowest maintenance cost.

Wayne, from what I have seen, even from the one price, high volume dealers like Melton Sales, that is a good price for an 03.

Hi, Pit Bull ... you are correct: that is an excellent price and about what I am paying on my '03 3500 SWR, which I am buying for $100 under invoice. I also like to change my own oil, etc. , but it's tough for an old man to do in a Colorado gravel driveway at 20 below zero.

Different topic ... you may remember me saying I was coming to Bella Vista for a Thanksgiving family reunion. I need a pet-friendly place to stay if I am to drive. The Inn at Bella Vista allows pets, but they have a limit of one and I have two small Portuguese water dogs. Do you know of another motel that allows pets? If so, please let me know. All I will be doing is sleeping there. Otherwise, I'll be with family most of the time.

RE: Paying Invoice Price for Ordering,...May have found the ordering Meccah!!

I read through this thread for information, looking for a place to get a deal after encountering pretty solid resistance from the local dealers and after one case of the price changing 4% in the dealers favor between "We got a deal" and actually signing the paperwork for my new beast machine.

I followed the advice given by others and called Bossier Country Dodge and talked to Deanna. They will give an awesome deal to anybody, but I am in the military and they have decided to give military members 1% BELOW invoice on any truck you order!!!!:D :D

Goodness Gracious, I about fell out of my chair and dropped the phone!!! Now all of our communications were via telephone and email, never set foot in the showroom, and they will handle your entire order that way. Just place your order over the phone and send them $500 down, can even put your deposit on a credit card if you are so inclined. Oo.

I say get your truck for cheap and save money for accessories, oh yeah, extra power, big tires, fancy diamond plate...

Just wanted to pass on a good experience I had... hope it helps you attain your dream truck for cheap!

Remember that the way to figure invoice price is to take 10. 5% off the sticker price. I just mulitply it by . 895 Reading through this thread Hinkley dodge was mentioned one thing i can say about them is a good friend of mine went in about 2 mos ago and supposedly bought a truck or so he thought. He got the truck drove off etc proceeded to mount all his stuff in it then gets a call about 10 days later and they say that they where not able to get him financed and he must return the truck. its like excuse me didn't they check that before he left the lot:rolleyes: . Apparently there was no way the finance manager could work the deal, so they even kept the 750$ he put down claiming that he damaged the truck. He owns a business as i do makes more money and has about the same credit as i do. When i bought my truck a few weeks earlier they didn't even varifly my employment or ask any questions about income. I just signed and drove off, but this was at another dealer.

cummins cowboy,

I have always just used the invoice price from Consumer Reports, but your method is a good way to roughly figure invoice price if you forget to check it before you go to the dealer. In my case the retail price of the truck was $41,550, 10. 5% of that is $4362. 50, which when subtracted leaves you with $37,187. 50. The price I was quoted by Bossier Country for the truck is $36,210 (Consumer Reports lists an as equipped invoice price of $36,575. ) That looks like a heck of a deal to me!!

Just wanted to pass on this information to others in the market!!:D

I ordered my 03' 4X4 2500 SLT QC "Laramie" Package ETH/DEE with all the goodies. The only thing I did not get was the side curtain air bags. The truck has a build date of 11-5-02, hope to get it by Thanksgiving. MSRP was 41,240. 00, I got it for 36,893. 00 plus tax & License. I thought this was an excellent price. Purchased at Hinckley Dodge in Ogden, Ut from Kent Thomas/Fleet manager.

Better watch those people in Bossier City, lawman. I spent 20 years policing in Shreveport, which is just across the river. Those Bossier City folks can see you coming :) .

If you have a friend or acquaintance that works or is retired from a dc plant etc

there is a friends program in effect that you pay 1% under

dealer invoice, but it must be delivered before the end of this year. This is in effect in Canada, maybe U. S.

programme #0225

Nick, go to CarCostCanada.com. I had my prices (both MSRP and cost) calculated yesterday for $26. 75 :D

For once we beat them americans on a deal ;)

I informed my dealer that I wanted to pay Fleet price, wich is cost + $500 (or something like that) for my upcoming baby. I think this is fair for an order. I'm tooled to negotiate now. HTH, Dan.
