Nick, go to CarCostCanada.com. I had my prices (both MSRP and cost) calculated yesterday for $26. 75 :D

For once we beat them americans on a deal ;)

I informed my dealer that I wanted to pay Fleet price, wich is cost + $500 (or something like that) for my upcoming baby. I think this is fair for an order. I'm tooled to negotiate now. HTH, Dan.

You should be able to beat that calculation cost at Consumer Reports. I think I paid $12. 50 USD or something like that. But then I also ordered through a broker who represents the buyer only. He charges a fee (in my case $300) and got me a $42,500 USD truck for a tad over $38,000 USD, which he said was $100 under dealer invoice. The dealer is still making factory holdback, which I think is 2. 5 percent.

Jeremia, we must compare apples with apples. Ok, I give, $12. 50 UDS is $20. 16 CDN so you saved $6. 59 CDN. That's a beer, or two (three at the grocery store). Nice shot.

Then, $300USD- $100USD makes $322. 58 CDN against $500 CDN you get beer for one party for one night. Nice shot too.

Ok, the real stuff now, my invoice for the following (nice truck) :D SLT 2x4 SB (2BG), curtains(CGS), anti-lock(DSA), bedliner(XME), Ho ho ho (ETH), fogs(LNJ), mirrors(GPG), premium cloth(M9), shield (XJL), folding floor (CVN), hooks (XEA), tow (AHC) and man's transmission (DEE) gives (ta-da-damm): $40, 573 CDN wich is $25,155 USD.

Who's saving money? If it's me, I'll pay you a beer when you drop by !!! :p Dan

... and I forgot: I like brokers too, but beware that when they finance you they (usually) also charge you monthly admin fees that let them recover your savings on the invoice. Lessons (costly) learned. HTH! Dan

Too much high finance for me. I don't think you can buy that truck for $25K USD. If you can, buy two and I'll take one. But are you sure you're getting a Cummins engine? That's almost $5k USD!

You don't want 4x4, eh? What are Canadians coming to? And, hey, forget that factory or dealer-installed bedliner - not worth the money. Get yourself a Line-X spray-in liner and live happily ever after. Or at least for the life of the truck.

For my truck, I am also considering a BedRug (www.bedrug.com) and an Access roll-up tonneau cover to make the wife think she's got a big 'ol dry 8' truck back there. :)

Here in Colorado, we have state-licensed buyer agents (or broker) who represent the buyer only. They can't make a dime other than their fees - not from other dealers or from the finance side. You gotta make sure what kind of broker you dealing with.

Caveat emptor, in other words.

You guys knew we're poor and miserable up here...

4x4 vs 2x4: we know how to drive on snow/ice 'round here ;) although the last time I drove in my prairie's mud it took a backhoe to get me out-a-trouble. In my case, 90% of my milleage is highway/city. For the 10% left, i put 750 lbs of crushed stone bags in the back from December to March + 4 winter & ice tires.

Nia problema :D

The Canadian difference (in price) is from taxes: does your $35k USD truck include some kind of federal manufacturing tax? The Quebec buyer will have to pay Jean and Bernard (my friendly prime ministers) 15. 6% atop of the $25K USD. Not counting sky-high fuel price.

I guess the perfect combination is: buy in a Canadian Reservation (no tax), pay cash in USD (dealing power), move to Alabama (low fuel taxes) and become a farmer (subsidiaries + red fuel). :)

Fortunately, we don't have much ice here, just snow and steep hillsides. My driveway is gravel, 100 yards long and steep. I had three inches of snow this morning and my old truck wouldn't make it without 4-wheel-drive.

We don't have a federal tax on stuff. But we do pay 3 percent state sales tax when we license it, plus a city sales tax if applicable. I live in the county, so it isn't applicable. We also pay about . 35 federal cents per gallon of fuel.

I hear that!
