FFutch,,,you still out there ??

Good deal for this 5th wheel

Got this e-mail from them-

"Dear paypal user, We would like to inform you that we are upgrading our server to install a better protection software. So please click here and fill in the registration form again to renew your account.

Paypal Administration. "

Thank you for a using PayPal!

Most likely not. There is a lot of phishing going on right now. U. S. Bank, Ebay and I can't remember if I heard about paypal. Look up their website and send them an email or call them to confirm. The general rule of thumb is to treat anything that asks for information like that as phishing. US Bank phishing has evolved into more official looking html emails with logos and such.

No! Absolutely not legit! Don't reply to it. Go to the Paypal site by typing it into the address line and look for 'paypal spoof'. You will be prompted from there. These cretins are just trolling for your private and personal information.

DO NOT FILL OUT THAT FORM!!!

You need to send it to Paypal as Spoof. I don't remember the exact address, had it on my old computer and it died a few months ago.

If you have a question about something like this, log onto the actual site and see if there is anything there. I usually just delete this sort of thing and don't worry about it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This one comes around every couple of months. I can't believe they haven't nailed the perps. There's another one from some generic-sounding bank, asking you to enter personal info for "verification". It's ALWAYS bogus.

Paypal will NEVER ask you to do this.

It's not for real, I get them all the time from PayPal, Ebay and US Bank. When I have time at work I like to fill them out with fake information. Would be nice if someone could make up a program to just constantly populate those fields with fake info and keep sending it to these guys.

Glad to here that I'm not the only one that does that. There isn't a week goes bye that I don't spend 5 to 10 miniutes stuffing junk mail from company a into company b's postage payed envelope.

Figured as much. I didn't even click on their link. I've gotten several e-mails from US Bank. They got deleted.

EDIT*** I see that the linked site has been shut down. :)

ANy time you get something like this e-mail paypal (or e-bay etc) and fwd tham a copy. Then they can trace it and at least stop that particular mailer from doing it again.

My Wife does business on Ebay and gets these a lot. Ebay and Paypal will never send an email with a link as you described. Never respond to them. This is called phishing (like fishing) the purpose being to get personal information to use for identity theft. If you go to the page it will look real, but may contain spelling and/or gramatical errors, because they usually originate in countries where English is not their first language, often the ex Soviet block (Eastern Europe). We get many complaints about this here at the office, but nothing can be done if you give the requested information and it winds up in the hands of foreign thieves.
