FYI:

I received an email from "PayPal.com" stating that my account would be inactivated unless I clicked on the attached link. That link was actually a program, and asked me to enter my credit card and PIN for "account verification".

NOT!

According to PayPal's real website, they've been beseiged by scams lately, and asked that I forward the email to -- email address removed --.

I did. And I hope they nail the boogers. Seems like a careful dissection of the attached program should tell them where the credit card info would have gone if I'd entered it.

As with telemarketers, and other bottom-feeders, never EVER give that info out unless YOU are the one who initiated the transaction.

I've been getting those a lot lately - 4 or 5 a week. If you click anywhere on the email it takes you to a website with an IP address that looks just like paypals site. The tip off to me was that it wasn't www.paypal.com but an IP address. One thing to keep in mind is to NEVER EVER provide any information due to an email asking for information. It's just like I never buy anything from someone who's called me on the phone. Weeds out a lot of the scams.

I got an identical e-mail from "Earthlink"... only it wasn't really Earthlink of course. Luckily I am a sceptical cynic when it comes to e-mail pitches or telemarketer calls.

I got this as well in my Yahoo! email Inbox, and when I viewed the message, Yahoo!'s virus software instantly told me it contained some virus (one of the newer ones, I forget the name), so I just deleted it. I was very suspicious of it though...

They are stealing info of course, and we get 3 to 4 of those requests a week.

Now there is a new Federal Scam place one can forward such fraudulent scams to, but I haven't caught it on tv in order to write it down.

But that is where these guys are going when we get 'em.
