PDR Intercooler testing

I know guys will look at it and say, can't it be bigger..... normal for guys, but the effect is in the design not the size, What would the customer rather hear, it will drop right in or you will have to cut here... trim here... . change this... ect?



On this one you only have to do one thing, grind, sand or drill the rivets that hold the brackets on the stock cooler so you can BOLT them on the new one with M6x1. 0 screws.



If anyone wants bigger tanks for a bigger cooler you can have them... ... . 5 grand to cast bigger ones or you can build a custom one off cooler..... it's been done.

Jim,

I was not bashing the cooler for being smaller than I suspected, I was just surprised that it was not taller (or at least as tall as a 24v cooler). Cetainly in this case the design/engineeering has been proven successful by it's performance.



Just out of curosity were you running a 12v cooler or a 24v cooler before this install. I know the 24v coolers are a bit more efficient than the 12v coolers but certainly neither can withstand the abuse of the higher boost pressures that twins and extreme fueling are capable of.

I really can't see were a gain would be being say 1 1/2" taller but I see your point, it's just not worth it to cast another set of tanks. Let me test the other cooler and I may or may not have more info for you on that.



My old cooler was a 12V and it had been under a set of Twins torchure for 2 years but it wasn't till the last month that I finally started seeing it go down hill. The people that I have talked to about the differences between the 12V and 24V coolers said there was none if any after the change.

Do you see any reason why it couldn't be installed upside down? I put a 2002 intercooler in my first gen. I would of had to cut the fender wells out to mount it right side up, so it put it in upside down. If the PDR is a bolt in on a 2002 then it should fit in upside down, in my truck .

Ron, I changed, ground or modified nothing on the install, I measured, checked and made mental notes on everything so your statement is true.



Cooker, the other intercooler is a little different as I'm told so let me test the two against each other because the best of the two is the one that will go into production.
