Cummins Power Tour from hell!

Oh yeah - can't wait. Gonna be a good time. You know, I just dyno'd my truck at 136 hp (wayyy stock pump... ), and I just have this feeling I may come back with a bunch more, not to mention a lot of good times and friends to carry on the bomb festivals in the future! :D

Again, anyone wanting to hook up on the way just gimme a holler and we'll arrange some major meeting places and times. I'm going to post our route and some tentative times and places. Anyone know of a good place close to the CA/OR border? That'll probably be the ballpark for the first overnighter.

We're looking at departing our area on the 24th and take two nice days, and head back on either the 28th or 29th. Anyone along the Pacific coast that wants to hook up on a convoy just chime in and we'll try to set up some meets. And hey, if not we'll see you there anyways!

Good deal, looking forward to it!

Hasta Pasta,

- Sam

Sam I am leaving San Jose on the 25th after work and stopping at my Dad's near Grants Pass for the night I will then meet up with Gary and Nowel in Portland on the morning of the 26th. We will the high ball it all the way to PDR from there. I am not sure this will work out but maybe we can hook up along the way.

Blair... that's more of the "plan" than I knew before I read this LOL... been waiting for more "info" from you or Nowel LOL

Stan ... you ol codger you can't fool me "slow " helllll ... I know better

I just knew you would read this so why write a direct e mail. LOL I figure I will have plenty of time to catch up you have a handicap... . HVAC

only thing fast about Nowel is his Red Rocket and urgency to get food delivered to the table [hoping that the eggs are cooked correctly hehe]... I believe the boy will be late for his own funeral LOL

Power Tour Itinerary

Alrighty then - In case any fellow BOMBers want to join our one rig on the trip to PDR, here is our itinerary for our leg of the trip:

North-bound:

24 Sep - Depart Lompoc, CA (b/w Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo) at 7 am - Pick up hw 101 North, and arrive San Francisco at ~ 1200 noon. Press North on I-80 East then I-5 North through Sacramento at ~ 1 pm, through Redding at ~ 3pm, cross the border at ~ 6pm, and crash in Grants Pass at the Holiday Inn Express at ~ 7pm. Eat a few burgers, drink a few beers, and get some zzzzs. Number for making rsvp's for Holiday Inn Express (at Grants Pass, OR) is 1-800-465-4329.

25 Sep - Depart Grants Pass after breakfast, ~8am. Haul axx straight up I-5, doing a fly-by of Salem (where my co-pilot will be dropped off to see his family there), arriving in Portland at ~ 1200 noon. After Portland, haul axx again straight up through Seattle, over the border, and stopping at PDR where the real fun begins. ;)

South-bound:

29 Sep - Depart (reluctantly) and retrace route back to Salem (to pick up co-pilot and maybe a '68 Superbee... never know... ), and head to Springfield at ~ 3pm. Detour on 58 East and pick up 97 South for a nice scenic route through the Cascades. Cruise down through Klamath Falls, cross the OR-CA border for a stop for the night in Weed, CA at the Holiday Inn Express. Number for making rsvp's for Holiday Inn Express (In Weed, CA) is 1-800-465-4329.

30 Sep - Depart Weed after breakfast, ~ 8am. Haul axx back down through Redding towards San Francisco at ~ 1200 noon. Cross the Golden Gate on hw 101 South abck down wine country, back to home.

Approximate driving time each day: 12 hrs. Two days up, three days there, two days back. Nice and easy, with the A/C on, at 21 mpg - sounds good! :D

Anyone that will be near those locations and wants to meet up and make a convoy (always safety in numbers), reply back and we'll work minor logistics for locations. Those joining, we'll swap cell numbers, etc, and work meeting times as we get closer. As well, we'll be able to call if there are any problems so folks aren't waiting, etc. And if it's just us, that's all good too.

Either way, we'll see y'all up at PDR! Be safe, have fun, go home happy, and keep on truckin'!

Meeting Jeff M. in Dixon on Thursday AM. Hope to get Willyslubba there about the same time so we can ride together. Hope to make Portland before stopping for the night.

Hey Nowell, I look forwad to seeing you again and the red rocket should look a little diffeent too.

Got Beef?

Back To Canada

Bob, I recommend you have a towel on each shoulder cause I've been known to drool when giving friends a hug:eek:

I look forward to visiting with you all kidding aside;)

Unfortunatly I won't be bringing the "Rocket" do to some recent family complications. Granny is in the hospital at the moment and I just got back from doing some serious clean up on her place. She won't let me tear into things if she's around. I hauled a truck and trailer load outta there today. My back is gonna be fried tomorrow:(

Beyond that we buried my great aunt last week :. ( She was the one taking care of my granny. Been trying to step up to the plate to shoulder all this responsibility.

The "Rocket" is in need of some serious testing, dyno and track wise. I found a torn intercooler boot on the truck while testing some injectors after May Madness. We noticed the peak boost was dropping. Kinda funny though, I was very unhappy with the 630 horsepower and (low) 53 psi of boost I was getting on the dyno. Couple years ago and I'd have been doing back flips with that report card.

Let's look forward to having a great time at Piers' place next weekendOo.

NERVOUS

Starting to get Nowell, all this talk about slow and late. LOL Well I guess I'll be playing it by ear, if I hear Blair coming up fast I may bail out, so don't go by to fast Blair. LOL Had to work WAY to many days straight to get this time off but boy really looking forward to it. See ya'll there. Jeff

I sure hope to catch up with you guys in Portland, should be no problem, you guys will be driving Miss Daisy ( HVAC ). It looks like I will be driving solo so there should be no distractions to stop me unless I run into some of those hot rod school busses like in LA. O crap why did I bring that up... LOL

ok still laughing

But on a serious note (serious yea right) we'll be in Portland you in Grants Pass on Friday morning and you say you'll catch us? 3. 5-4 hours made up on Friday morning? Do you go that fast? Miss Daisy can't go THAT slow, CAN SHE? LOL

YES

As a matter of fact we just got back. Of course thats my wife Daisy not my escort driver Miss Daisy. I think I better shush up or he may just forget about that little town of Dixon. LOL
