Does it have an external wastegate on it ? Or can you control all that boost with the HX-35 ?

Piers has modified the wastegate system within the HX-35 which seems to work for HP's up to about 500. One more week of testing and it will be all figured out.

What I would like to know, is the part numbers for the heater hose fittings, that was a project on mine last year that got put on the back burner. :) They are

Sleddy the heater hoses are just -10 line and the fitting coming off the head is a 1/2 pipe to -10 fitting. I just used those fake fitting with a hose clamp in them for the connection at the heater core. I also bought some hose separators to keep everything looking good going over the manifold. Everything was bought at Summit for about 120 bucks.

Over fuel no way I was under aired:D It has been way too long since I have experienced the power of the mighty Cummins.

I have PDR regular twin set up w/ both exhaust housingsand the connector pipe coated with HPC extreem coating. Lots of other goodies also hopefully the long wait will be worth it.

I am hoping to be running by May Madness but I don't know if she'll be broke in enough to dyno yet. I just got the block to the machine shop today. And the injection pump to the shop to be maxed out:D :D :D

Can't wait!!!

Well I got my new wastegate setup on last night and at WOT to 85mph with the wastegate opening at 32 psi I get 1200 degrees at 3000 rpm's, total boost is 53lbs. At lunch I will test it again with the wastegate coming in at a higher boost level and with the wastegate turned off. I think for towing we will have to have the wastegate turned off but with the flick of a switch it can be turned back on. The temps were lower with the wastgate turned off but I am not sure I can controll the boost. I will tow the trailer tomorrow for the final test.

The exhaust is 5" out of the turbo and goes down to 4" after the down pipe to the exhaust brake.

OK note to self don't run without the wastegate empty, the boost went soaring right by 60lbs so that is all the data I got before a panic lift of the throttle. It sure seems to run very good up there but I am sure the head gasket will not last. So I will try some more adjustments after work and see what happens. :D NOW I AM HAVING FUN !!!!

I was curious what was the "new wastegate" that you installed? Is it installed between the turbo and intercooler?

I really want to get a twin set-up but I'm running the stock head gasket (for now) and would like to find away to lower overall boost.

Hey John the wastegate I have is on the small turbo, I have been playing with the adjustmant and diferent ways to activate it. I also have a stock headgasket with a set of studs, so it can be done I think, we will see for how long. I can limit the boost to 53 lbs and I see no problem at that level. I have been running single turbos at that level for years and no problem.

Well I took the trailer for a test spin on Saturday and it worked out pretty good. I think there is still room for improvement but so far so good. The bottom line is about 7 to 10 lbs more boost most of the time and my MPH is up by 4 MPH on my test hill and instead of 1300 degrees I am now at 1200. I have a few more ideas so lets see if I can make it even better. I was able to maintain 45 lbs of boost and 1200 degrees all the way up the hill.

Those are the turbo's I am comparing to. The USB was slightly better than the 40 for towing but the 40 was slightly better for empty EGT at WOT. The 40's housing is just a bit bigger than the USB.

Sunol grade out of Livermore, it's nothing special but it is 7 degree and very close to home. I go over that grade allot so I know exactly how the truck will do.

How are the twins testing out now Blair??? :p

I am very interested in this setup. How does it run empty????

Inquiring mind who wants to know ;)

So far they are working great, empty they spool better than any bigger than stock single I have ran so far. The EGT is well under control empty that is for sure, I have yet to get to 1300 degrees before running out of road. I have made a few more changes and the trip in a couple of weeks to May Madness will tell the story. I hate to just take it out for small trips and consider it a sucess, it is better to get a few thousand on it in many situations before you jump to conclusions. But so far I am happy with the results just give me a few more weeks to be sure.
